The Christmas season is the perfect time to capture those magical moments, and what better way to do it than with a stunning scrapbook layout? Today, I’m sharing a design that combines mixed media techniques with the beautiful Sugar Plum collection by Pretty Little Studio. This layout celebrates the heart of Christmas—our tree!

The layout is created by layering scalloped strips of patterned paper from the Sugar Plum collection. These strips cascade down the page in shades of pink, red, and white that draws the eye straight to the centerpiece photo of our beautifully decorated Christmas tree.

To add depth and texture, I started with a white cardstock base and applied a soft watercolor wash in pink tones behind the tree shape. A few splatters of red ink give the page a playful, festive vibe. This subtle mixed media background enhances the patterned layers without overpowering them.

The Sugar Plum collection shines through in the details:

Die-cut words like Joy and Love add a heartfelt touch.

Tiny icons—candy canes, ornaments, and snowflakes—are sprinkled throughout for extra charm.

A bold title, “Our Christmas Tree,” anchors the design and balances the photo.

The photo itself is framed with coordinating patterned paper, making it pop against the layers.

The combination of structured layers and free-flowing mixed media creates a dynamic, eye-catching design. The Sugar Plum collection provides the perfect palette of reds, pinks, and whimsical holiday motifs, making this layout both festive and elegant.

To complete the layout, I added:

Labels and tabs for journaling and dates.

Dimensional elements like foam adhesive under some strips for a layered effect.

A mix of hearts and festive phrases to tie everything together.
